DetailsIchiyo Higuchi was born in 1896 and lived in Tokyo all her life until she passed away at the young age of 24 in 1899. Also, many of the novels that Kazuyo left behind are set in Tokyo during the mid-Meiji period, where she lived. This exhibition introduces the urban environment and people's lifestyles of Meiji Tokyo, which were vastly different from modern times, through nishiki-e, photographs, newspapers, and magazines, and provides a glimpse into Kazuyo's own daily life and the world of her work.
