Details | Ueda Takeo and Takahashi Tomoko have one thing in common: they are fascinated by traces of work. For example, paint that has spilled over and stuck to the worktable, pencil lines and letters drawn during sketches, materials left in an imperfect shape, wrinkles in paper after opening a package, and peeled-off adhesive tape...they are somehow endearing. Perhaps they both sense the potential in the expressions of such things, and use them as a starting point to imagine and create new shapes. In this way, the traces of work are fitted into new shapes and connected to what follows. This time, works that combine their respective expressions and their respective sensibilities will be unveiled in the new Azur Rose Gallery space designed by Ueda. Works that lead to later FLANGE plywood Takehisa Ueda × Collage Works Tomoco Takahashi Takehisa Ueda and Tomoco Takahashi have one thing in common: we are both fascinated by what is left of our work. For example, paint that sticks out and adheres to the table, pencil lines and letters that have been an idea with an esquisse, materials that remain in a half-formed shape, wrinkles in the paper after opening a package, and adhesive tape that has been removed…for some reason, these objects are endearing. Perhaps we both see the potential in the expressions of these things, and using them as a starting point, we begin to think and create new works for ourselves. In this way, the traces of the work will take on a new form and lead to the next. This time, we will unveil the works that fascinate us by combining our individual expressions and our two sensibilities in the new Azur rose Galerie space that Ueda has created. ◆FLANGE plywood Takeo Ueda Takehisa Ueda◆ ◇Profile Born in 1977. I have created something like a trace of daily production. Scrap wood from furniture production, scratches from the circular saw, drilling marks, and paint that remain unused. These are the traces of daily production. ◆Tomoko Takahashi◆ ◇Profile 1991 Graduated from Tokyo Zokei University, Department of Fine Arts, I 1993 Completed Nihon University College of Art, Art Research Institute / "There are things like this too" vol.1' Production Engineering Department Award ◇Exhibition History 1992 '19 Years Old, Mr. A's Case' Solo Exhibition/G Art Gallery (Ginza) 1994 'Mr. A's After' Solo Exhibition/Ginza Kyubido Gallery (Ginza) 1995 'Mr. A's After' Solo Exhibition/Muramatsu Gallery (Ginza) 1995-2005 'Postcard Communication' Group Exhibition/Ginza Kyubido Gallery (Ginza) 1996 'Each Drawing' Group Exhibition/Ginza Kyubido Gallery (Ginza) 1997 'About That Actress Side A' Solo Exhibition/Muramatsu Gallery (Ginza) 1997 'About That Actress Side B' Solo Exhibition/Ginza Kyubido Gallery (Ginza) 1998 Re-use Works product brand 'T.T.TOKIO' launched 1999 'Bags KABAN Solo Exhibition / Ginza Kyubido Gallery (Ginza) 2006 BAG Solo Exhibition / Siena Gallery (Ginza) 2009 Ageage Rosso Solo Exhibition / GALLERY LARA TOKYO (Roppongi) 2012 Story Bag 2012 Solo Exhibition / Gallery Space Pause (Iidabashi) 2015 SPICE From The Sky Solo Exhibition / Gallery Space Pause (Iidabashi) 2016 Lovely Style cloth × cross Exhibited / Faye Art Museum Yokohama 2017-2019 Sasaya Art Market RE-USE WORKS by Artists Booth Exhibited / Kinshicho 2018 Collage Works Dreamer's Bag -plan- Solo Exhibition / Kitchen Bar Noraya (Koenji) 2019 Collage Works Dreamer's Bag 』 Solo Exhibition / Makii Masaru Fine Arts (Asakusabashi) RE-USE Works by Artists Group Exhibition / Makii Masaru Fine Arts (Asakusabashi) Participation in the Modern Nagomi Art Festival 2 / Naramachi Nigiwai no Ie (Nara) Dreamer's Bag -yours- Solo Exhibition / M.O.N.O.SHOP & GALLERY (Fujigaoka) 2020 RE-USE Works by Artists Group Exhibition / Gallery Kobo 33 (Kitasando) 2021 BAG TO THE FUTURE 2021 Group Exhibition / f.e.i art gallery (Yokohama) SHIBUYA CRAFT ARTS 2021 Group Exhibition / Bunkamura Gallery (Shibuya) RE-USE Works by Artists Group Exhibition / Gallery Kobo 33 (Kitasando) 2022 Tamagawa University Media Design Exhibition Project "Each Microcosm" Reuse Exhibition ~The Knot of Art and the Environment~ Booth exhibit with Saegusa Satoshi/Fay Art Museum Yokohama ◇Artist statement I always start my work with "collage". I line up different things and try to overlap them a little to make them match, insert or place something in between, add another object, shift it a little, or let it stick out... It's like I'm searching for "freedom" and I can't stop, but I'm working while rejoicing in inspiration and discoveries. Currently, I'm exploring the possibilities of assemblage by adding materials such as cloth, paper, and leather scraps to solid materials such as wood and stone. Collage is always the starting point of my work. I try to put different objects on top of each other to make them match, put something in between them, or put something else in between them, or shift them slightly, or make them stick out…. It is like a never-ending search for freedom, but it is a process that is filled with joy at the inspiration and discovery. Currently, in addition to fabric, paper, and leather scraps, I am reaching out to solid materials such as wood and stone to explore the aspect of assemblage. |
