DetailsA feast of diversity and the world of monsters, with strange and mysterious artists dancing!

Many of the urban infrastructure that makes up Taito Ward has its roots in the Edo period, when culture and entertainment developed and entertainment centres were formed. Among them, monsters became very popular through ukiyo-e and other art, and supported the development of the city. The existence of monsters was born from unknown phenomena and events that could not be explained in that era, and they were not only feared, but also expanded imagination and romance, becoming rooted in Japan's unique monster culture. In "Yokai Illustrated Book: Wandering the Flower Mansion," we wanted to create a work that attempted to create a world of monsters with real, living people. The highlight is not only the appearance, but also the various characteristics and expressions added by site-specific monster performances by artists active in Japan and abroad. While depicting monsters, this program will be a full-scale art appreciation program with the theme of diversity in humans and expression, and can be enjoyed by a wide range of people, from children to adults, and even overseas visitors.
