The collections in the New Wing range from the 19th century art to works created in the early 20th century.

The exhibition room of the New Wing, second floor

On the first floor of the New Wing, 19th century and 20th century paintings and modern sculptures are on permanent exhibition. 19th century paintings, paintings by Claude Monet and prints are exhibited on the second floor of the New Wing. Monet's paintings, including "Walk" (1864) that is thought to be influenced by the early Barbizon school painters, "On the Boat" (1887) that is, in a sense, a pioneering work leading to Impressionist paintings depicting effects of light and colors, "Poplars in the Sun" (1891) and "Water Lilies" (1916), are on display. There are many paintings created in the period that is actually referred to as the dawning of modern Western paintings, from the late 19th century to the early 20th century.
